On Tolerance Day, November 16th, International and Russian students of PenzGTU took part in a round table, organised by the psychological service in the framework of «Intercultural Dialogue» events for International and Russian students.
«Our joint work was aimed at defining the main concepts of tolerance in multiethnic educational environment, - said Olga Adymova and Tamara Medvedeva, psychologists from the laboratory of Educational Work Department. – The students from Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Algeria shared their understanding of what a tolerant attitude towards people of a different nationality, confession and cultural traditions is and how it manifests itself, searched for common principles of respectful attitude, identified interethnic obstacles affecting intercultural communication».
According to the organizers, an open dialog, a free discussion of the problems occurred in the youth environment is an essential condition for creating a harmonious, ready for cooperation society. “ Such events are undoubtedly considered to be a good preventive measure to avert negative manifestations in the youth environment, the organizers are sure, - What is more, they encourage the implementation of joint intercultural projects aimed at forming a respectful attitude towards people of different national traditions and strengthening interpersonal relations among students from different cultures and religions."
