Tour of Penza Motivates Foreigners to Study Russian

May 31, 2021

During the warm weekend in May the international students from groups 1 and 8 of the Pre-University Department of the Faculty of International Students Education had a tour of the cultural sites in Penza.

The students visited the Penza State Museum of Regional Studies, the Zoo, Belinsky Park and the Monument of Glory, which is one of the symbols of Penza.

All day long the students were learning the culture and traditions of the town, its history and trying to apply the knowledge of Russian in practice.

“Informal speech listening skills and conversations with native speakers are very important for learners but sightseeing and getting to know important people biography help broaden the knowledge about the country they are living and studying, - assures Daria A.Lagutova, the organizer of the tour and teacher of FISE. – Participation in cultural events allows the students to feel the welcoming atmosphere that is so important to study Russian”.

In the future, the faculty will continue to get acquainted with the history and cultural traditions of Penza. In 2021 both international and Russian students of PenzGTU are going to take an active part in “Interethnic Dialogue”, a set of events being carried out under the “Rosmolodezh” grant.
