PenzGTU: We are Ready to Collaborate with Association of International Students

May 18th-20th 2021 Miloud Akhlem, a PenzGTU student from Algeria and Ksenia Lyagina, a curriculum coordinator of the Faculty of International Students Education, took part in the IX All-Russia Forum of the Association of International Students. Krasnodar State Institute of Culture (KGIK) hosted the event.

“The representatives of different Universities and organizations gathered at the congress. Russian and foreign students, employees of Universities international departments, members and partners of the Association met to discuss acute problems of adapting international students in Russia and find ways to solve them, - says Ksenia. – We are definitely interested in the experience our colleagues have with international students”.

In the framework of the AIS Congress a broad programme with honorary guests was organized.

At the gala opening of the congress the following people spoke in front of the participants: Aniset Gabriel Kochofa, the Ambassador of Benin to the Russian Federation, Director General of International Alumni Coordination Council (INKORVUZ-XXI); Vladimir Filippov, the President of RUDN University, the Chairman of VAK; Sergei S. Zengin, the Rector of KGIK. Among the events of the Congress there was a scientific and practical conference “Tuition at Russian Institutions of Higher Education in COVID-19 conditions: challenges and prospects, review of best practices” and regional webinar “Specifics of Learning Process during the Pandemic for International Students”. The specialists on migration issues of the Head Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Rossotrudnichestvo and RUDN attended the event.

“It is essential that the IX Congress of the Association of International Students became not only the place where you can build effective collaboration of students and Universities employees on the most important issues of international students tuition, share experience and views, outline the prospects for the development of further cooperation, - Ksenia continues. Its main peculiarity is to provide international students, studying in our country, with opportunity to feel like-minded people”.

“In addition to official events I remember the events aimed at acquaintance and teambuilding, -Miloud Ahlem shares her impressions. – Creative performances by KGIK students and participants from another Universities, tour around Krasnodar. I compared what was happening there with what is in our University. We have something to share and be proud of in working with international students. But we have something to learn from another Universities. And we will definitely do it!”

As a result of these and other events, a resolution was adopted, which included the issues of stay of foreign students on the territory of the Russian Federation.
