May 17th, the foreign students of PenzGTU visited museum preserve “Tarkhany”, situated in Lermontovo village, Belinsky district, Penza Region. “The tour is organized in the frame of The Year of Spiritual and Cultural Heritage, announced in our region, - said Anton Zhbanov, the Head of the Youth Policy Department. – Its participants are mainly students from another towns and international students. Acquaintance with the history of our region and the ancestral home of the greatest Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov is another step in their cultural development and spiritual excellence.
Excursionists visited the manor-house, venerated the ashes of the poet in the Church of Maria of Egypt, saw the displays in the ”House of Key-Keeper” and the “Servants Hut”. Our involvement in a folk festival in Windmill area and ancient Tarkhany crafts was an exciting event, - the students mentioned. – A master class in making a rag doll allowed us to immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of the 19th century and learn a lot of new things about the folk traditions of Penza Region”.
The cultural programme was finished with a walk on the land area of the manor-house and taking traditional photos on the background of Tarkhany amazing nature.
The participants were delighted with the trip and had a lot of fun.
